Online Content Creates New Source of Revenue

Background

Medical Distribution Solutions, Inc. (MDSI) publishes information that helps medical manufacturers and distributors sell more effectively.

With an extensive network of strong relationships with experts throughout the healthcare supply chain, MDSI understands this highly complex sales environment better than just about any other company.

Challenge

The challenge for MDSI was how to take that valuable understanding and put it into a form their market could use—and would be willing to pay for.

MDSI’s staff are great at journalistic reporting, database management and producing online and print publications, but not necessarily at collecting and organizing large amounts of educational information.

And, like most internal resources, they were all strapped for time.

Solution

Hooked wrote a library of online learning modules, each between 30 and 45 minutes long,

Given 12 different topics (for example, “Integrated Delivery Networks,” “Group Purchasing Organizations,” “Reimbursement”) and contact information for a number of subject matter experts, we developed interview protocols and conducted interviews, created module outlines, did research and wrote scripts and slides.

Results

MDSI now offers a library of 12 online learning modules, each between 30 and 45 minutes long, to explain the healthcare supply chain. Their clients pay MDSI for access to this content, which they use to train their sales forces.

John Pritchard, MDSI General Manager, commented that the learning curve in this industry is steep, “but you understood the complexities quickly. The work was high quality and you didn’t need handholding  to produce it.”
